Markinch Community Council is a non public body, composed of elected volunteers from within the community. Our primary purpose is to ascertain and express your views to the local authority and other public bodies on a wide range of issues which affect the community. The involvement of Markinch residents and their contribution is therefore essential and extremely important to us. Our main areas of interest include:
Development and Planning: Community Councils have a statutory right to be consulted on Planning and Development issues;
Transport: Covering topics such as traffic planning, road safety, traffic calming measures and local public transport services;
The Environment: The protection, maintenance and enhancement of open spaces, parks and environmental improvements;
Community Safety: Policing and crime reduction;
Community Resilience: Emergency planning and procedures in the event of an emergency affecting the community.
Markinch residents are always welcome to attend one of our monthly meetings to listen to discussions, raise any concerns they may have and talk directly to Community Council members.
Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month at 7.00pm in the Lodge Balgonie, Bowling Green Road, Markinch KY7 6BD.
Please Note, no meetings are held in July and August.
If you cannot make one of our meetings or the matter is urgent, you can contact the Community Council Chairperson through the Contact Us button above.
